California Expects to Force People into Electric Vehicles with Blackouts?
How Do They Expect You to Charge Your EV If a Blackout Occurs?
If you are not aware, California in all its wisdom, or lack of any. Recently passed legislation to ban gas-powered cars by 2035. However, in this ban and bill, we see nothing that addresses the matter of a charging network, and how that will be accomplished in a state that has and is known for flex alerts, if you are not aware a flex alert is put out when the power grid is being overloaded by a heatwave and they the state has rolling blackouts because it can’t handle the amount required to power homes, let alone EVs?
As a native of California, soon to be a former resident of the state it is all too common for the legislature that passes bills, with no way to ensure that the infrastructure will be able to handle it. As usual, let’s kick the can down the road and not put into place potential ways to ensure you have a means of energy to fuel this ban that will force you into an EV. All the while kicking it down the road, forcing others to address it when it will be too late.
This is the same mentality of the debt ceiling whenever it comes across in congress no matter the side of the aisle, these dinosaurs in congress know they won’t be around, so why bother to care or address the REAL issues, like real solutions, just like the EV legislation it is a knee jerk globalist initiative over their so-called campaign on Global Warming. Yet, they will whine when they cant power their EV!
Today, California is advising not to charge their electronic cars during certain hours as 90-degree rolling blackouts are and will occur. They want all residents to not only charge their EVs during peak times but to set their thermostats at 78 degrees or higher while avoiding using large appliances. How, are we supposed to address that when the legislature refuses to address the REAL issue, the power consumption situation that has plagued the democrat-run state for more than two decades? When they can’t even handle the current heat waves? But, do they expect us to bend to their knee in 2035? That is less than 15yrs away.
Further, I have my doubts as with anything and everything that is related to the politically motivated ban, California will not be able to enforce let alone the automakers be allowed to meet the goals set out. First off, you can’t produce that many cars, and batteries, and where are the charging network going to come from, or the ability to fuel these vehicles? Not everyone can nor will be able to afford solar on their home, when most people don’t own a home, they rent, and many rent within that apartments and there will never be enough charging units. What happens to all the mini-marts, liquor stores, am/pm, and gas stations that are mainly owned and operated by immigrants?
The other issue is the price tag of an EV, most people can’t afford a $45,000-80,000 EV, let alone the payment that comes with that or the increase in insurance. I know that my own premiums for my car insurance have gone up due to the EV market, so now I guess I am being penalized or subsidizing EV drivers.
So, will California address any of these issues? Don’t count on it, when it comes around 2035, these ppl that voted for this will either be retired or long gone from politics and won’t care.
